Hi, I’m Rasmus.

Founder of Ups & Downs

We build digital tools for something most adults quietly struggle with: keeping their friendships alive once life gets busy.

Ups & Downs exists because I don’t believe friendships are supposed to fade just because we grow up.

Friendships don’t end. They erode.

Most friendships don’t break because of conflict.
They fade because of calendars, careers, kids, distance, and good intentions that never quite turn into action.

You mean to reach out.
You mean to follow up.
You mean to go deeper.

Then weeks pass.
Then months.
Then suddenly, someone who mattered feels far away.

Ups & Downs was created to interrupt that pattern.

Why this matters

We’re living through a loneliness epidemic.

More adults report feeling socially isolated than ever before. Not because they don’t care about people, but because modern life leaves little room for maintaining closeness. Work expands. Family responsibilities grow. Time fragments.

And friendships, the relationships that once carried us, quietly slip into the background.

Loneliness doesn’t always look like being alone.
Often, it looks like having people but not feeling truly connected to them.

I believe no one should go through adulthood feeling that kind of distance.

Ups & Downs exists as a response to this moment. Not to replace real relationships, but to help people hold on to them.

What we’re building

Ups & Downs is a private, digital platform that helps you be intentional about your friendships.

We don’t try to replace real connection.
We help you make space for it.

Through simple, science-backed tools and guided friendship journeys, Ups & Downs helps you:

  • stay aware of the people who matter
  • notice when a friendship needs attention
  • take small, meaningful actions that compound over time

No feeds.
No public profiles.
No performance.

Just structure, reflection, and clarity.

Who it’s for

Ups & Downs is built for adults who care about relationships, but don’t have unlimited time or energy.

Especially:

  • people in busy life stages
  • parents trying to stay connected beyond family life
  • anyone who wants fewer, deeper friendships instead of many shallow ones

You don’t need a big social circle.
You need a few people who truly know you – and a way to stay close.

Our mission

To help you be intentional about your friendships.

Not by adding more social obligations.
But by helping you show up. Consistently, thoughtfully, and in ways that actually matter.

Let’s build something that lasts.
